Current Initiatives

The Faculty Equity Committee works towards initiating new and maintaining existing strategies and programs to support equitable practice across learning, teaching, research, administration and community service in the faculty. Subject to the availability of funds, the Committee allocates its budget to a number of programs. Please note that not every program is supported every year. Some of the programs include:

Book Vouchers
The faculty offers AUD 50.00 book vouchers to students from the Q-Step program and the Oodgeroo unit. These are provided to commencing students at the begining of each semester. Students with enquires regarding book vouchers should contact Colleen Brydges (Student Services Officer, Creative Industries Faculty).

Student Bursaries
These are offered in the same round as QUT central bursaries. To apply for bursaries all QUT students are forwarded an email which refers them to the application document available from the QUT Equity Section. Typically this is offered midway of second semester. Creative Industries students who do not receive a central bursary, may then be considered for a faculty bursary.

Creative Industries Dean’s Incentive Award (for students)
To assist a student with potential for continued high achievement, currently experiencing financial hardship with the completion of a Degree or postgraduate qualification within any discipline of the faculty.

Creative Industries Dean’s Award for Equity (for staff)
Selected and presented in recognition of outstanding equitable practice in teaching, scholarship, research, community service or university administration.

Creative Industries Equity Initiative Grants
Awarded to faculty academic and professional staff (individuals, groups and staff/student teams) for outcome-based projects which will contribute to improved access, participation, success or retention for students from equity groups.

Other initiatives funded by other sources within the faculty include:
